Stacey Pennington

Founder & Principal

Stacey received her Master in Urban Planning at Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 2005, and was awarded Highest Overall Achievement in Urban Planning and Design. As a recipient of the Harvard University Frederick Sheldon Traveling Fellowship, she spent a year in Europe researching sustainable innovative housing delivery systems in urban environments. San Diego’s real estate sector has been acknowledged by Bisnow, which featured Ms. Pennington as one of the “50 Most Influential Women” in commercial real estate. Her work has been recognized by the “Create the Vibe” Alonzo Award for its success in creating an arts and cultural hub that activates downtown. In 2016, Stacey was named one of The Daily Transcript’s “Top 40 Under 40” business professionals who are helping to shape San Diego’s future, a finalist in the San Diego Magazine “Women of the Year” and recognized by San Diego Metro as one of the “Top 40 Under 40”. Most recently, Stacey’s influential role in the community was highlighted by San Diego Magazine’s HATCH publication..

Ron Troyano

Director of Strategic Activations

Ron is the Activations and Events specialist at SLP Urban Planning. He is also the founder of Alchemy San Diego, a strategic activation and consulting company. Previous to Alchemy San Diego, Troyano ran a restaurant group whose business evolved into a venue management and event services provider coupled with a consultancy focused on real estate marketing/activation, place-making, food systems and economic development. Troyano’s commitment to community building is rooted in decades of service as an adviser, board member and officer to several nonprofits in San Diego. Among those organizations are The Front Burner Fund, San Diego Hunger Coalition, Kitchens for Good, The San Diego Food System Alliance, The Farm to School Task Force, The San Diego Urban-Rural Roundtable, and the South Park Business Group. Among several honors, Troyano was selected for the San Diego Metropolitan Magazine’s 40-under-40 in 2011, recognized by the Community Health Improvement Partners as a Cross Sector Business Leader for 2014 and most recently in 2017 as a panel expert with the Urban Land Institute on Healthy Places: the convergence of real estate, land use and food systems.

 

Chloé Lauer

Director of Special Projects

Chloé received her Master in Urban Planning at Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 2004, and was awarded Highest Overall Achievement in Urban Planning and Design. Ms. Lauer recently re-entered the field of Urban Planning after a two year hiatus creating online courses and contributing thought leaderships to the emergent ‘transformational travel’ space. Her current work, in conjunction with a fellow Harvard Graduate School of Design graduate Stacey Pennington of SLP Urban Planning, focuses on applying human-centered and data-informed design to the revitalization of sites and neighborhoods in the San Diego, CA region. Previously, Ms. Lauer was the Director of Strategy at MKThink, an integrated practice at the intersection of design, innovation, and analytics in San Francisco, CA. There she specialized in the education and non-profit sectors, leading strategic planning projects for clients such as Stanford University, Mozilla Firefox, and The Nature Conservancy. In addition, Ms. Lauer co-authored and co-facilitated the WELL Building Standard Certification as a consultant for the Inn at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, CA, the world’s first WELL Certified hotel (Platinum, July 2019) and has complementary experience in the fields of health and wellness, interior design and home organization, and fine art.
